Integrated Academic Support

Year after year, LSC-Montgomery students list "my professor" as their number one source for information about campus resources, including academic support services. Faculty play a key role in encouraging students to utilize these resources to support their academic success.

The Student Tutoring And Research (STAR) Center offers a full range of in-person and online services for faculty and students. These services include both on-demand and real-time research and citation help, information literacy instruction, resource access, tutoring, academic coaching, study space, and much more.

Connecting Your Students to Academic Support Services

  • Faculty can connect students to library and academic support services resources by adding a link to the STAR Center Resource Portal in your D2L course and/or syllabus.
  • Integrate academic support services directly into your course content by collaborating with STAR Center staff. All of our services can be customized to meet the needs of your students and align with your course learning outcomes. For more information about the services available to faculty and students and how to integrate these services into your online class, please visit: Integrated Academic Support

Connecting Students with Counseling Services

Effective counseling referrals for best practices can significantly enhance academic support by connecting students with the right resources to manage personal and academic challenges. Through these referrals, students gain access to specialized guidance, which can include mental health support, time management strategies, and skill-building opportunities. Integrating this approach within academic environments helps students overcome obstacles, focus on their studies, and improve their academic performance by leveraging tailored support networks that address individual needs.
