Emerging Technologies in the Library

Overview of emerging technologies & services in the Library at LSC-Montgomery.

Eligibility

All users must satisfy the following conditions:

  • You must be a current Lone Star College-Montgomery student with a current LSC ID [ages 14 and up].

  • Projects must relate to course assignments. Explanation and/or evidence of course assignments is required.

  • You must review and sign a User Agreement form, Equipment Use Agreement form, and Liability Waiver form*.  These forms protect the technology in the makerspace and release the College from responsibility of damage, injury, or death.

*The parent or legal guardian of users age 14-17 must sign the required forms.

Policies & Procedures

All users must comply with the following rules:

  • A reservation is required and must be made 24 hours in advance of your arrival time [more on reservations below].

  • The makerspace is limited to one user or group at a time. Groups cannot exceed 8 people.

  • The makerspace is “checked out” to the user's library account [current LSC ID required for checkout]. For groups, the makerspace is "checked out" to the person who made the reservation - this person becomes the primary user and assumes sole responsibility for damage and/or misuse.

  • First-timer user(s) must complete a brief in-person orientation of the makerspace.

  • User(s) cannot leave the makerspace unattended.

  • Food is not allowed. Covered drinks can be used at the "work table" site in the physical space.

  • The physical space and technology will be assessed by library staff before the makerspace is "checked in" and discharged from the user's library account.
