Tutoring & Coaching Services

The Student Tutoring and Research (STAR) Center offers a wide range of academic and instructional support services for students and faculty, including subject tutoring, academic coaching, workshops, and research and citation help. Home to the campus library and tutoring services, the STAR Center provides study spaces and resources throughout the campus. 

These spaces include the Biology (B-113), Math (F-234) and Language (G-104) homework labs, The Write Place (G-103), and The HUB (F-102 & F-112).

In-person tutoring is available by appointment (some subjects) and walk-ins on a first-come,first-served basis. 

Our tutors are dedicated professionals who create a supportive environment to assist you in mastering course content and achieving success in the classroom.

In-person Service Appointments

The STAR Center is now offering the following in-person services by appointment. Students, faculty, and staff may reserve a time to access the STAR Center for the following services: 

  • Academic Coaching
  • Research & Citation Help
  • Tutoring 
    • Science 
  • Writing Consultations (The Write Place)

Community patrons (non-LSC currently enrolled students/faculty/staff) may use STAR Center services on a first-come, first-served basis by requesting assistance at the STAR Center Service Desk (Bldg F, First Floor) or Homework Labs

All STAR Center visitors are encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  

To set-up an in-person appointment with a tutor:

Step 1: Go to the appointment page
Click this link to open the STAR Center Appointment Page.

Step 2: Select a Service
Choose the appropriate tutoring option.

Step 3: Select the Date
Select from the available dates for your appointment.

Step 4: Select Time
​Select from the available appointment times.

Step 5: Continue
​Click on the continue button.

Step 6: Check Information
​Make sure the information in the Appointment Details box is correct. If you need to make changes, select “Change Appointment Details.”

Step 7: Enter Your Details
Enter your first name, last name, email, and student ID number. Also include a brief description of the assignment, topic, or any questions you wish to discuss.

Step 8: Confirm Appointment
​If you are ready to make your appointment, click on the “Confirm Appointment” button.
You will receive an email confirming your appointment for your selected day and time.

Bring all the material that you might need for the appointment (course syllabi, notes, notebook, laptop, homework, textbooks, etc.).
