Book with One Author

Template:

Author (Last Name, First Name). Title of Work: Capital Letter Also for Subtitle. Publisher NamePublication Year  

 

Example:

Weiner, Tim. The Mission: The CIA in the 21st Century. Mariner Books, 2025 New 

 

Book Chapter

Template:

Chapter Author (Last Name, First Name). "Chapter Title."  In Title of Book: Capital Letters Also for Subtitle, edited by First Name Last Name and First Name Last Name. Publisher, Publication Year. 

 

Example:

Armstrong, Dorsey. "Malory and Character." In A New Companion to Malory, edited by Megan G. Leitch and Cory James Rushton. D.S. Brewer, 2019.

 

*For ebooks add the name of the database at the end of the citation followed by a period.

 

Journal Article from a Database with One Author

Template:

Author (Last Name, First Name). "Title of Article." Title of Periodical Volume Number, Issue Number (Publication Date): Pages. DOI (if available).

Example:

Journal Article from a Database with Two Authors

The first author should be written last name, first name. Separate the author names with the word "and" followed by the second author name. The second author name should be written first name and then last name. 

Template:

Author (Last Name, First Name) and Author (First Name Last Name). "Title of Article." Title of Periodical Volume Number, Issue Number (Publication Date): Pages. DOI (if available).

Journal Article from a Database with Three to Six Authors

List the first author name by last name and then first name, followed by up to 5 more authors, separated by commas.

Template:

First Author (Last Name, First Name) other authors (First Name Last Name). "Title of Article." Title of Periodical Volume Number, Issue Number (Publication Date): Pages. DOI (if available).

Example:

Dubey, Anuja, Hasaam Uldin, Zeeshan Khan, Hiten Panchal, Karthikeyan P. Iyengar, and Rajesh Botchu. “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Musculoskeletal Interventions.” Cancers 17, no. 1615 (2025): 1-14. https://doi:10.3390/cancers17101615.

 

Journal Article from a Database with Seven or more Authors

List the first three authors, followed by "et al." The first author is listed by last name, first name. List other author names first name and then last name.

Author (Last Name, First Name) 2 other authors (First Name Last Name), et al. "Title of Article." Title of Periodical Volume Number, Issue Number (Publication Date): Pages. DOI (if available).

Example:

Newspaper Article

Template:

Template:

YouTube Video

Template:

*Access dates are only required if no publication date is available.  Students may be required to include access dates in their papers. CMOS 13.15

Cite AI generated information within text or notes. Like personal communications, they are not typically included in the bibliography, but if necessary, the following format should be followed:
