Why Cite AI-Generated Content?

Artificial Intelligence Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT generate text in response to a prompt. This information should be cited if used in a course assignment as it comes from an outside source, just like other sources such as a book or an article. Failure to cite all sources is plagiarism.

Limitations of ChatGPT

ChatGPT may hallucinate or make up fake citations and sources when responding to a prompt, so make sure to verify the information provided.
