Dual Credit Students

Research Help

In addition to the resources available at your high school, dual credit students have access to the academic resources and research assistance available at the LSC-Montgomery Library. The library is located in the STAR Center (Building F, 1st Floor); however, many of the resources and services are also available online and can be accessed off-campus from your high school, home, or other favorite place to study.

Accessing your library resources

As a dual credit student, you have access to both physical and online resources available through LSC-Montgomery Library. Students access these resources with a library card number. The number is printed on the back of the LSC student ID card. Students who are not able to visit campus to get a physical ID card can request just the library card number via email.

How to Get a Physical Library Card

Library cards (student ID cards) are issued at the Service Desk of the library. You will need the following to get a card. If you have any questions, contact us at 936.273.7387 or MC-STARCenter@lonestar.edu.

  • LSC student ID number
  • Proof of current registration in an LSC course
  • Photo ID

How to Get a Library Card Number

If you are unable to come to campus, you can request a library card number be issued to you via email by filling out the following form: lonestar.edu/library/cardYou must use your Lone Star College email and student ID number on the form. If you don't know your LSC email or ID number, contact the Office of Technology Services at 832.813.6600.

Note: If you require immediate access to the library's online resources, you may access the databases using your LSC email & password. However, you may be required to login anew to each database and you will not be able to access campus-specific databases without a library barcode.

Getting research and citation help

LSC-Montgomery librarians are here to help you maximize the available resources throughout the research process. In addition to answering general reference questions, librarians are also available to help you:

  • Review your assignment to identify and clarify key requirements.
  • Find resources to ensure you have relevant and credible sources.
  • Make a research plan that aligns to the assignment and utilizes available LSC resources.
  • Review citations to confirm that the correct style and formatting are applied.

Finding resources for your dual credit course

Resource guides are great tools to use as you start your assignments in the different classes you are taking. The guides are curated by LSC-Montgomery librarians to connect students to the different resources (i.e. books, databases, etc.) that the library has to support academic work in that particular subject.

To find a guide for your course, search for a specific subject guide using the Start Researching box below or explore some of our other guides by using the Explore More box.

Connecting to e-Resources

LSC Libraries offers an extensive collection of online resources, including academic databases, eBooks, eJournals, images, reference sources (encyclopedias & dictionaries), streaming videos, and web resources that support a wide range of academic research. These resources can be accessed via the Research Databases page. Details about these resources and how to access them can be found below.

All of the library's online resources (except free web resources) require a library card number & PIN or an LSC student username & password. To learn more about getting a library card number, visit Get a Library Card.
